Délio Jesse
Délio Jasse was born in Luanda, Angola, and lives and works in Milan, Italy. His photographic practice explores the relationship between image and memory, often combining found materials—such as passport photographs and family albums—with references to personal and collective histories. Central to his work is the notion of the latent image, through which he examines how photography can reveal and obscure the past. Working primarily with analogue processes, he experiments with techniques such as cyanotype, platinum printing, and early methods like Van Dyke Brown, while also developing his own approaches. Through interventions including painting, collage, and gold leaf, he challenges the reproducibility of the photographic medium, producing layered and singular images.
His work has been presented in exhibitions including Arquivo Urbano at Tiwani Contemporary, An Imaginary City at MAXXI, and Recent Histories at The Walther Collection, among others, as well as in major international events such as the Venice Biennale and the Dak’Art Biennale.
