The Atlastudio residency is an independent focused program opened for emerging and stablished artists that are looking for a place of reflection away from their usual environment and that are self-sufficient on their research. It is a non prescriptive residency program with aim of facilitating the exchange of experiences and knowledge among the artists besides their individual research and production projects. While in residence, the artists will benefit from an intense production time enhanced by the exchange of ideas and experiences with peers. The residency provides accommodation and living space.

The space is self-contained and is a living and working space located in a building with one more studio that is used by Portuguese artists.

This residency is an opportunity for international artists to stay and work in Lisbon for one to three months. The space only accommodates one international artist at the time . The studio for the residency is 7 x 6 meters with a working and living studio with their own kitchen and bathroom.

The Residencies Program will be firmly established in the Lisbon arts scene, promoting diverse cultures and practices through international and experimental projects.

1. Exchange

Visiting artists stay between one to three months alongside another studio located into the residency  that accommodates Lisbon based artists. Visiting artists are encouraged to make links with other artists, organisations, students and arts professionals in Lisbon to encourage the mutual exchange of ideas.

2. Development of Practice- Mission and statement

Outside of ordinary constraints such as day jobs, commissions and exhibition deadlines, residencies offer artists the time, space and resources to experiment with their work and try new approaches. Through looking at Lisbon’s art scene and being in a new context, artists can take away ideas and viewpoints that will inform the development of their practice. While we do not provide full-time artistic assistance, the Residencies Program offers a strong level of creative support. Euroatlas residencies are a plataform in Lisbon and the artists in the studio and their assisants will assist you in sourcing materials, offering local knowledge, contacts and creative input.

 5. Facilities

The Residencies Program is open to artists working in all disciplines, however one must note ATLASTUDIO has restricted facilities. ATLASTUDIO has 1 very large private apartment with private bathroom and kitchen facilities. There is some studio equipment like D:Y:A equipment, some multimedia equipment to share and 24h hour wireless internet. Euroatlas has contacts with organizations in Lisbon (photography darkrooms, video editing and print making facilities) that can provide equipment and services for visiting artists at reduced rates. Studios include basic furnishings (desk and chair). Access to office equipment (photocopiers, computers for email and internet) are available upon request during office hours.

6. Apply

This residency  is through an open call with a juri selection. The artist has to find their own sponsor in their country to cover the expenses. This residency format accepts spontaneous application.
